Wrapping up this particular flavor of iteration curation, we added the YouTube link for the final Callin archive Pumpkin Heads discussion (posted in this feed on 10/20/24) as a source in NotebookLM. The generated conversation was again impressive while still exhibiting obvious room for growth and enhancement.

Key points:
- Female host started this one- The creator (singular)- “Neighborhood barbecue” (not B-B-Q this time)- First infected “starts flirting with Dad’s best friend…”?- WASP knife angle explained correctly this time!- Both hosts eventually say “WASP P knife” - Smart twin actually dead? I think we talked about that in episode 3…- “It deserves to be out there” “It’s a story that needs to be told” “Maybe someone out there is already working on it”- “In the meantime keep those lights on and those WASP knives handy”

Following from the last episode, we added the YouTube link for episode 2 of the Callin archive Pumpkin Heads discussion (posted in this feed on 10/13/24) as a source in NotebookLM. And then, you guessed, it, we regenerated the "conversation" and again, the iterative method bears fruit.

Key points:
- Almost get a sense that the hosts are getting more comfortable with the material, more jokes and smoother back and forth    - Less “your notes” stuff    - “The writers” instead…- “This one’s a doozy” - Groundhog Day homage? Ha ha ha- “I can already tell this is gonna be messing with my dreams tonight”- “We’re only 9 meals away from anarchy”- “WASP” pronounced correctly, though the intent was lost on the hosts- “Keep those brains safe out there”

In this second round of using Google's AI tool, NotebookLM, to facilitate development of the Pumpkin Heads story, we added a new source: the YouTube link for episode 1 of the Callin archive Pumpkin Heads discussion (posted in this feed on 10/6/24). Then we regenerated the "conversation" and while you can judge for yourself, we definitely could tell an improvement just from that additional source.

Key points:
- Mostly similar but some new stuff, focus on parts not mentioned in the first iteration- “Your notes, your concept, your…”    - This was interesting… the references from both hosts to “your” instead of “the creators”- “Parasitic Alien Invasion - those are three of my favorite things”- “Gruesome biological booby trap”- Re: the POV concept: “Like a jigsaw puzzle but with perspectives instead of pieces”- Reference to The Trolly Problem in regard to the smart twin’s choice- “Sometimes the scariest monsters are the ones we create ourselves”

Continuing with the Pumpkin Heads theme, we're checking out the Google AI tool NotebookLM to see what it has to offer. Specifically, you can use it to generate a short "conversation" between two AI hosts and it's pretty remarkable, team. For this iteration we loaded NotebookLM with the written sources of the Pumpkin Heads story. We discuss some high level points and then have included the AI conversation for you listening pleasure.

Key points:
- “The creators”- “B-B-Q”- “WASP P”- The scene where the mom kills her son “When I read that it really stuck with me”- “Nightmare fuel”- A few “yeahs” that sound like a 3rd person whose only contribution is “yeah”- “Sometimes the scariest monsters are closer than you think”

Is fear ever fair?

Sunday Sep 15, 2024

Sunday Sep 15, 2024

In this episode we share some personal stories related to fear, movie and biblical references of fear (don't worry, we definitely included Dune), and our general thoughts about the impact and implications of fear itself.

Poetry and quotes:
Is fear ever fair?Is it something we can use?Or does it use us?
Litany against Fear (from Dune):"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

“In the end I am nothing, but right now I am everything” - Tucker

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads up hate. Hate leads to suffering.” - Yoda
